Rant: I spent 2 years laughing at those "oddly satisfying" cake cutting videos and just found out why they bug me
I used to send these to my group chat every single week, the ones where a knife slides through frosting and it makes that perfect crunchy noise. Last Tuesday my roommate caught me watching one for the fourth time in a row and asked why I kept replaying it, and I couldn't answer her. That's when it hit me, these clips are not satisfying at all, they're just edited with the audio pitched up and the cuts sped to 1.25x so your brain gets tricked into a dopamine loop. I timed one with my phone and the whole thing was 14 seconds with 9 cuts, so there's no real cake and no real knife, just a sound clip someone bought for $3. Has anyone else figured out which of these accounts are running the same fake audio pack? Cause I swear I heard the same crunch on three different bakeries last week.
