I quit buying pre-shredded cheese after one grocery trip math session

Used to grab bags for $4 each, then did the math on a block last month. Block was $2.50 and shredded double the amount. Now I shred in 5 minutes on Sundays, has anyone else done this switch?

Oh man, shredded cheese is the biggest scam out there. Once you start grating your own, you never go back. I buy the big blocks when they're on sale and just go to town with the box grater while watching TV on Sunday. The pre-shredded stuff also has that powdery coating on it to stop clumping, and it messes with how the cheese melts. It gets all grainy instead of that nice gooey stretch. Plus, you can grate a huge batch and freeze it in bags, it thaws out just fine for pizza or tacos. Your wallet and your taste buds will thank you, seriously.
