Mom's spaghetti sauce cost $4 a pot in 2005, now I'm paying $11 for the same thing

I used to just grab canned tomatoes and a pound of ground beef without blinking, but last week at Kroger in Buffalo I stood there doing math on my phone for five minutes. Does anyone else have a go-to cheap swap for ground beef that doesn't wreck the sauce?
