Overcooked a whole pot of rice last night and saved it with this trick

I was making dinner in my tiny kitchen in Portland and got distracted by a call from my sister. Next thing I knew, the rice was sticking to the bottom and smelled burnt. I pulled it off the heat and laid a piece of bread on top of the rice for 5 minutes to soak up the scorched taste. It actually worked and saved me from having to start over. Has anyone else tried that bread trick or got a better fix for burnt rice?

Bread trick is overrated. Every time I try it I end up with a soggy mess that makes the brake pedal feel mushy. Might work for some folks but it's a gamble with your life on the line. Just buy a proper light or use reflective tape like a normal person. Not worth the risk of your bread getting moldy and leaking all over your trunk.

Saved my ass more than once" - I hear that. I once used half a loaf of stale rye to get home from a camping trip and made it 40 miles before the bread started screaming at me. Never did get the smell out of that old truck.
