TIL my grocery bill fell from $190 to $132 a week after I started shopping the markdown meat bin first
I started doing this about 6 weeks ago at the Kroger on Vine. Instead of making a list of meals and then buying meat, I hit the clearance section first and plan dinners around whatever is 50 percent off that day. Last Tuesday I got 2 pounds of chicken thighs for $4.10 and a pork loin for $6, which covered 4 dinners for my family. The meat gets eaten or frozen within a day or two, so nobody has gotten sick. Has anyone else flipped their shopping order like this, or do you plan meals first and stick to it?
