Am I the only one who plans trips around free museum days? Saved me $74 in Chicago last month
I was in Chicago for 4 days last month and almost skipped the Field Museum because tickets were $28 each for me and my girlfriend. Then a worker at my hostel mentioned the free days for Illinois residents, and I found out a bunch of museums there do free or pay-what-you-want hours for everyone on certain evenings. We ended up doing the Art Institute on a Thursday night for free, saved $74 total that trip. Now the first thing I check when I book any city is which museums have free nights, way before I even look at hotels. Some are only free the last hour, which is still enough time to see the main stuff. Does anyone keep a running list of cities with good free museum days? I want to plan a trip around it next time.

Free museum nights ruined me, I now plan whole cities around saving eight bucks.
