Cheap hostel lockers are a joke - mine got jammed in Barcelona

Tried to grab my bag before checkout last Tuesday and the lock on that flimsy metal locker just seized up completely, took 20 minutes and a borrowed butter knife to pop it open. Anybody else given up on hostel lockers and just started carrying a tiny portable safe instead?

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me in Lisbon last year (I was so mad). I had to stand there like an idiot jiggling the lock while my friends waited outside, and of course it finally popped open right as the front desk guy walked by to see what the noise was. I've honestly had way better luck just keeping my valuables in a dry bag and hiding it in the bottom of my backpack inside the locker. The hostel lockers are more for peace of mind than actual security, if you ask me.

Omg this happened to my friend in Barcelona and the lock literally broke and she had to cut it off with nail clippers lol

Yeah, that's how it goes - stuff always breaks at the worst possible time.
