My aunt's single critique killed my whole color coding system

She looked at my July spread in Portland and said 'this is just decoration, where's the actual plan?' so I stripped my journal down to just dates and tasks, and now I actually finish things instead of admiring the layout, has anyone else had to rebuild after a blunt comment like that?
