Guy at the flea market talked me out of a $200 'vintage' lamp with one look at the cord
Was at the Springfield flea market last Sunday and had a $200 brass lamp in my hands when the seller next door leaned over and pointed at the cord. He said, "See that crack in the rubber? That's a fire waiting to happen, and rewiring runs you $40 plus the kit." I put it back and grabbed a $15 plain one from his table instead. He also mentioned most old lamps need new sockets since the brass ones get loose and arc. Anyone else got a flea market regular who saves them from dumb buys like this?
