My shims kept slipping until I tried the tape trick

I spent last Saturday fighting with door jambs in a Reno kitchen reno, shims kept sliding out before I got screws in. A buddy told me to run double-sided tape along the shim before setting it, and the whole jamb stayed put for the final clamp. Anyone else use tape on shims, or do you just swear and use extra hands?

Saw a contractor on a forum swear by painter's tape wrapped around the shim instead, keeps it from sliding but comes off clean. Honestly, anything beats yelling at the jamb for ten minutes.
