Shaker-style doors looked great from 10 feet away, then I got close
Stopped by a high-end kitchen showroom in Scottsdale last weekend and spotted what I thought were flawless maple Shaker doors. Up close, every single reveal had a different gap, one was nearly 1/8 inch off on the bottom rail. Is that just what happens when a production shop rushes through assembly, or am I expecting too much from a $40,000 cabinet order?

That 1/8 inch gap on the bottom rail isn't you expecting too much, that's a shop cutting corners on a $40k order. I've seen this before, production places let the doors sit too long before assembly so the wood moves and the reveals end up all over the place.
