Spent $220 on a Festool track saw and it burned me on the first cut

Had the track shift mid-cut on some walnut plywood, left a jagged edge that ruined the whole panel. Anyone else have trouble with the anti-slip strip not gripping on clean surfaces?

Holy cow. You spent $220 on a track saw and it slipped on the very first cut? That's brutal. I would have thrown the whole thing across the shop. That anti-slip strip is supposed to be the main selling point for that brand, so hearing it failed on clean plywood is wild. Makes me wonder if you got a defective one or if the wood had some kind of finish on it. Either way, ruining a whole walnut panel on the first cut is a nightmare. I'd be tempted to send it right back to the store.

$220 for a tool that can't handle plywood is just bad design, not bad luck.

Wait, did you tell your friend about this? That reminds me of something that happened to my buddy Dave. He bought one of those fancy track saws, first use on some cherry he'd been saving for a year. The anti-slip strip peeled right off halfway through the cut, track slid, and he gouged a huge chunk out of the board. He just stood there staring at it for like five minutes. Ended up building a small box out of the ruined piece just to salvage something from the mess. He still jokes about it but I know he's still mad.
