Watched a guy at the Phoenix woodworking show fix a cabinet door with a business card, and it made me rethink my whole setup
I was at the Southwest Woodworking Show in Phoenix back in March, just walking the floor, when I stopped at a booth where a guy was showing how to fix a sagging cabinet door. He pulled out a plain business card, folded it twice, and wedged it behind the hinge. Door closed perfect. I stood there with my $180 hinge jig in my bag feeling kinda dumb. I went home and tried it on a wonky shop cabinet I'd been meaning to redo for 6 months, and it worked just as good. Since then I keep a stack of old cards in my apron and I've used that trick on 4 installs when a hinge plate was just a hair off. Saved me from hauling out the shims and chisels every time. Any of you old timers got a trick like that you picked up from a show or a swap meet?
