Heard a new guy at the supply house say 'a drop is a drop' and it made me think about all the shortcuts I've seen.
Honestly, after seeing a botched aerial job in Denver last month where they used the wrong messenger strand, I'm convinced that attitude is why we get so many callbacks.

That Denver job probably used a 1/0 instead of a 3/0 messenger. A drop is definitely not just a drop.

Wait, they actually used a 1/0 for that? That's wild. The sag on that line must have been crazy, especially if they had any ice load last winter. No wonder the drop failed, that's just asking for trouble. You can't just swap messenger size like that and expect it to hold.
