Hand polishing vs. the rotary tool, my back thanks me now
Honestly, for years I did all my lens element polishing by hand with a cloth and compound. Took me 20 minutes per scratch and my fingers would cramp up by the third job. Last month I finally caved and got a small Foredom rotary tool with a felt pad. Ngl, it cut that time down to 5 minutes and the finish is way more even. I still hand polish the really delicate stuff, but for standard front element haze, I'm never going back. Has anyone else made the switch and found a good technique for keeping the pad clean between passes?

That felt pad will pick up grit you can't even see from older compound and scratch stuff you just fixed. Try spinning it dry on a clean rag after each pass to fling the junk out, and keep two pads going so one can soak while you use the other.
