Hot take: Why I care about the memories behind every camera I fix
I used to see cameras as just machines to fix. But after a stranger shared how his camera captured his kid's first steps, I started valuing the memories they hold. This shift has made me more careful with every job.

Found a similar roll in a camera I was fixing once. I get what you mean, @ruby804, it really does make you handle things with more care.

Yeah that reminds me of finding an old film camera at a thrift store. It still had a roll inside. Got it developed, turns out it was someone's family vacation from like 1992. Felt weird, like holding someone else's memory. Makes you think about all the stories tied to these objects.

Wait you actually got the film developed? That takes some guts. I would have been too worried about what was on there. Kind of amazing you got to see those old photos though.

Imagine how many of those lost stories are just sitting in landfills now. I mean, we digitize everything these days, but that old physical stuff just decays. Kind of sad when you think about it.
