Finally got my 15 year old Coleman stove to simmer after 3 trips of tinkering
I picked up a beat up two burner Coleman at a garage sale in Boise for $8 back in April, and it worked fine on high but would not go low no matter what. Third trip out last weekend I finally pulled the whole valve apart, soaked the packing in oil, and bent the little lever arm back just a hair. Made scrambled eggs and coffee at a slow roll the whole morning, no burnt pan, no flare ups. Took me 3 tries and probably an hour of fiddling but it beats paying $120 for a new stove. Anyone else here mess with old white gas gear or do you just buy new?
Eight bucks for a Boise garage sale stove is wild, but bending the lever arm yourself instead of tossing it is the part that gets me. My dad would've just grumbled and bought a new one.
