Kept a coffee can of bacon grease for 2 seasons before I switched to a $9 grease pot
For my first two seasons of car camping I saved bacon grease in an old Folgers can and poured it into the fire pit, which always flared up and smoked out my whole site at Lake Wenatchee. Last month I finally grabbed a $9 aluminum grease pot with a strainer lid and it holds about 2 cups, so cleanup went from a 15 minute scrub to a quick wipe. Kinda mad I waited this long to spend nine bucks. What do you all do with your cooking grease when there is a burn ban and no fires allowed?
Man, nine bucks for two seasons of grief sounds like the best deal going. When there's a burn ban do you pack the grease out in that same pot, or pour it into a bottle and toss it in the trash with the rest of your camp junk? I've been dumping mine in a coffee can and just carrying the whole sticky mess home, wondering if there's a smarter way.
