Vent: That guy at the REI counter who lectured me about my tent stakes
Last weekend at the REI in Denver, a clerk saw me buying 8-inch aluminum stakes for my backpacking tent and spent 10 minutes explaining why titanium ones were 'worth the weight.' I asked him if he'd ever actually driven a stake into frozen Colorado ground in April, and he just blinked at me, so I walked out with the aluminum ones anyway. Anyone else get unsolicited gear sermons from people who clearly haven't camped below 40 degrees?

That frozen ground comment hit me right in the soul, same thing happened to me at a Bass Pro once.
