He spent 12 minutes on the mic last Tuesday explaining how the tweets were "taken out of context" without ever saying what he actually did wrong. So now I have a rule: if the apology has more excuses than specifics, I'm out, and I want to know if that's too harsh.
My cousin pulled this on our fantasy league group chat back in 2019 after he posted some stuff about a guy's dead dad. His "apology" was 400 words about how the league was toxic and everyone misread his tone, and I counted exactly zero sentences naming what he said. What finally got through to him was me copying the actual post and texting it back, just that, no comment. He wigged out for a day then came back with a real one. So my thing is, skip the podcast version and make them read their own words back. If they still can't name it, the apology was never the point.
