My cousin swore off a YouTuber in 2022 over a 4 year old tweet, and the apology video still bugs me
Back in 2022 my cousin Dana in Phoenix cut ties with a gaming YouTuber she watched daily because of a tweet from 2018, and I sat with her through the 22 minute apology video that followed. The guy read off a script, never said what he was actually sorry for, and plugged his merch line at the end, which made the whole thing feel like a hostage tape. I keep going back and forth on whether a bad apology means the person never meant it or just that they are bad at public speaking. Does an apology need to name the actual thing to count, or is saying sorry enough for you?
