That blower door test is no joke, it'll humble any house. My place whistled like a teakettle around every outlet and light switch. Sealing those up was a cheap weekend project that actually made a noticeable difference in drafts.

Totally feel that about kitchen spending going wild. Splitting a giant pizza or Chinese food order was way cheaper than making full meals just for myself. My grocery bill has absolutely doubled since we all stopped sharing.

Actually that makes zero sense. Paint color has nothing to do with how a sensor works. Those things send out beams or detect motion, they don't care if you see them or not. It might look nicer but the function is exactly the same. You just tricked your own brain because you paid more attention to it after doing a project. The tech inside doesn't get an upgrade from a coat of paint.
