I spent a decade using the wrong pressure on my glass cutter
An old timer at a supply house in Tacoma watched me work and said, 'You're pushing like you're mad at it.' He showed me how a lighter, steady hand gives a cleaner score. Anyone else have a basic technique they were doing wrong for way too long?

I always thought more pressure meant a deeper score. Turns out it just makes the glass want to chip out in weird places. That old guy's advice saved me a ton of wasted material.

Yeah, that line about it just making the glass chip out weird... that's the whole thing right there. It's like @scott.cameron said, you push too hard and you ruin the piece. I see it everywhere now, not just with glass. People think forcing something is the answer, but it usually just breaks the whole deal in a way you didn't expect. The smart move is almost always a lighter touch and letting the tool do the work.
