Watched a Youtuber's 2021 apology on repeat and finally saw what was wrong with how I judge these
Three months back I sat through a 14 minute apology from a guy who got called out for old tweets, and I was ready to forgive him until I watched it with my wife. She pointed out he said "I'm sorry" zero times in the first 8 minutes and kept saying "I hear you" like it was a customer service script. That got me looking back at my own comments on other people's apologies, and I saw I usually just went with whoever sounded calm and sad, not whoever actually named what they did. I rewatched a clip from a streamer out of Columbus that everyone called fake, and honestly his apology was more specific than the one I defended last summer. Now I'm trying to figure out a real test for this instead of going off vibes. How do you all separate a person who actually gets it from someone who just hired a good writer?
