Just realized that disgraced cooking show host has 4.2 million followers again and I don't know how to feel
So I was scrolling around last week and someone mentioned that guy who got booted off his network show back in 2021 after the whole thing with his staff. I looked him up thinking he was done. Nope. 4.2 million followers on his personal page. He's posting knife skills clips again. Comments are full of people saying "we forgive you king" and "everyone deserves a second chance."
Here's my thing. I actually think some people can come back. But the way this happened bugs me. He never addressed it. No interview, no statement, nothing. He just went quiet for like a year and a half and then started posting recipe reels like nothing happened. And it worked. That's the part I can't get past. The comeback didn't require him to do anything except wait.
Compare that to a smaller creator I used to follow who apologized, did the whole sit down video, took a real break, and is still getting dragged in her comments 3 years later. Same internet. Different rules depending on how big you are I guess.
So where's the line? Do we need an actual apology, or is going quiet for 18 months enough now? Because it seems like it's enough. And I'm not sure that's a good thing.
The "we forgive you king" comments are what get me too. There was this fitness guy I used to watch who pulled almost the exact same move, vanished for a bit after some mess, then popped back up with workout clips and zero mention of any of it. Meanwhile a smaller girl I followed posted a whole tearful apology video and people were still in her comments two years later saying she was fake crying. So yeah, it really does seem like the bigger you are the less you have to actually do. Waiting it out shouldn't count as making it right but here we are.
