Got laid off on a Tuesday and it was the best thing that happened to me

My company let me go back in January during a mass cut at 10am. By 3pm I had three calls from former coworkers at other places offering me jobs. Made 15k more within a month. Has anyone else had a firing turn out way better than expected?

My buddy got canned from a call center job and landed one paying 20k more two weeks later.

Man, did your buddy at least get a heads up or was it one of those out of nowhere things like @jenny198's story? I've seen that happen to a few people I know too, where getting let go was actually a blessing in disguise. It's wild how fast things can turn around if you've got the right connections or just get lucky with timing. My neighbor got laid off from a warehouse job a few years back and ended up making more money driving a delivery truck a week later. Sometimes the universe really does just shove you out of a rut you didn't even notice you were stuck in, like @jenny198 said about that cubicle neighbor scoring interviews the same morning.

My cubicle neighbor got laid off at 9am and by noon he had two interviews set up... one of them was with a former boss who left a year before. @noahgreen mentioned his buddy's call center story, that's basically the same energy. For me it was a Friday at 4:45pm, right before a holiday weekend, which felt like a special kind of cruel joke. But within a month I had a better title and a raise I'd been too scared to ask for at the old place. Funny how getting fired can sometimes just be the universe's way of pushing you out of a rut you didn't know you were in.
