I thought the 'just ask for more money' advice was total nonsense until I actually tried it in Columbus
Sat on a $58k offer for four days because some guy on a podcast said to, and they came back with $67k, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this and had it blow up in their face instead?

Tbh the first time I tried this I asked for 5k more and the recruiter just went quiet for a week, then sent me a rejection email that felt way too personal. I sat there like a clown rereading it, wondering if I'd messed up a sure thing over a podcast bro's advice. What I learned is that it works when you have leverage, like another offer or a skill they really need, and it blows up when you're just bluffing into the wind. Also timing matters a ton, because some companies have zero wiggle room and asking just makes you look like a hassle. So yeah, it can backfire, and when it does it stings way more than just taking the first number. Glad it worked out for you though, 9k is a nice chunk.
