Chatted with an old timer in Iowa about his framing hammer and it made me rethink my whole tool setup
He said he's used the same wooden handle Vaughn for 30 years because fiberglass gives him tennis elbow. I've been swapping to lighter composite handles for months and never once considered the vibration transfer. Anyone else stick with wood for the feel?

Man that bit about the tennis elbow really hits home. I've been dealing with some wrist pain myself lately and never even thought the handle material could be the culprit. The old timer sounds like he knows his stuff, thirty years is a long time to stick with one tool. I've always just grabbed whatever was on sale at the hardware store, but after reading your post I'm starting to wonder if I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Might have to track down an old wood handled hammer and see what all the fuss is about before my joints give out completely.

@colethomas just be careful you don't end up like me, standing with an old wood handle in one hand and the head of your hammer thirty feet away after missing a nail...
