Did a custom home job in Portland and learned a lesson about pattern matching
I was installing a high end carpet in a new build outside Portland last month and the seams were driving me crazy because the pattern was so tight. After 3 tries I realized I was rushing the matching steps and missing the repeat marks by just an inch. Has anyone else had to walk away from a job for 15 minutes just to reset their eyes on a tricky pattern?

Hate when that happens, gotta walk away sometimes to clear your head.

Totally agree @alice_allen5, walking away is basically my go-to life hack. I've had moments where I'm staring at my phone like it's a calculus problem and the answer's not coming, so I just go make a sandwich and somehow the solution hits me mid-bite. It's like my brain needs a timeout from itself. Though I've also walked away, forgotten what I was mad about, and just stood in the kitchen eating cheese wondering why I'm there.
