Rant: power stretcher died on a 3 bedroom in Boise, took me 4 extra hours

The motor quit with one room left and I ended up doing the whole thing by hand with a knee kicker and a stair tool, so has anyone found a fix that doesn't mean a $400 trip to the repair shop?
