Shoutout to the carpet in that new hotel lobby on Main Street

I was downtown last week and walked through the lobby of the new Grandview Hotel. The carpet pattern was this huge, intricate medallion design, maybe 20 feet across. The seams were almost invisible, and the pattern matched up perfectly at every single join. It looked like one giant piece. I stood there for a good five minutes just trying to spot a seam. That's some next-level skill with a power stretcher and a sharp knife. I've done my share of patterned goods, but nothing on that scale. Has anyone here ever worked on a job with a pattern that big? How do you even start the layout without messing it up?

Half an inch on a job that size is brutal lol. That installer must have been sweating bullets.

You mentioned the seams being almost invisible, but I was there yesterday and caught a mismatch near the front desk. The medallion's outer border was off by maybe half an inch. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. For a job that big, that's a pretty big miss.

Exactly, @morgan.jason, those tiny flaws just ruin the whole look.
