That 'quick' seam repair ate my entire Thursday in Bakersfield
Got a call last week about a small seam pop in a rental unit, figured 20 minutes with the iron and some glue. Turns out the carpet was glued down over concrete with no pad, so the seam tape wouldn't stick at all. Spent 5 hours grinding the old adhesive and re-stretching, plus drove 45 minutes each way for the right tape. Anyone else deal with glue-down seams that refuse to cooperate on a time crunch?
Five hours on a seam pop does sound rough, but that's kind of on you for not asking about the install before you showed up. Glue-down over concrete with no pad is a total different job than a padded stretch-in, and a phone call or photo upfront would've saved you the drive and the grinding. Maybe chalk it up to a lesson on quoting sight unseen.
