Took my foreman's advice on a power stretcher, wasted half a Saturday in Tulsa
He swore I didn't need to re-tack the perimeter on a 12x14 room, said the pad would hold it. Within 20 minutes the carpet buckled near the doorway and I had to rip it up and start over. Anyone else ever trust a shortcut that cost you more time than doing it right?

That foreman must moonlight as a carpet salesman on commission for redo jobs. 12x14 is small enough that the extra 20 minutes of tacking saves you from the 3-hour tear-out tango. Next time he offers advice, I'd check if he's holding a stopwatch and a six-pack as payment for your "lesson learned.
