Unpopular take: that new 'dust free' sanding method is overhyped for carpet work
I stopped by a job site in Tampa last month and watched a crew use one of those enclosed sanders before a carpet install. Sales guy swore it cuts prep time in half and leaves zero dust. It took them 45 minutes to set the thing up and they still had to hand scrape the edges. My old rotary with a vacuum shroud did the same floor in 20 minutes with a little dust. Sure, the air was cleaner, but the schedule got blown out and the homeowner paid for extra labor. Maybe it's just me, but has anyone else found these newer systems slower than the classic route, or am I missing something?
