My 6 year old asked why Daffy Duck is fine after a piano falls on him and I had no answer

We were watching Looney Tunes on the couch Saturday morning when Wile E. Coyote got flattened by a boulder for the fourth time in one episode and my son just said "he should be dead." I realized I have watched this stuff for almost 30 years and never once questioned why a 500 pound weight only squishes them flat instead of crushing bones, like the anvil is the only thing that actually follows physics. So what is the rule exactly, do they have rubber bodies or is it only allowed to hurt when it is funny?
