My 8 year old caught the biggest cartoon lie I never noticed in 30 years of watching
My daughter was watching Scooby Doo last Saturday morning and asked me why Shaggy and Scooby never run out of breath when they sprint for a whole episode. I started counting the run scenes in just that one episode and got to 11 minutes of straight running, no water, no cramp, nothing. It hit me that nobody ever talks about this because we all focus on the doors and hallways that go nowhere, but the endless stamina thing is way weirder. Have any of you actually timed a chase scene to see how long a character runs without stopping?
Man, it's a cartoon. Scooby and Shaggy also eat ten pound sandwiches and never get full, and a dog talks in broken English. Picking apart the running stamina seems like missing the whole point of the show. The doors and hallways thing bugs people more because it's a plot hole, but the stamina isn't even a plot hole, it's just how cartoons work. If you sat down and timed every impossible thing in Scooby Doo you'd never finish an episode.
