Why does nobody talk about how the 4th $7 sticker at checkout is where I lost it
I went to a local shop here in Akron to buy a plain cotton tote, nothing fancy, and the tag said $18. Fine, I get it, small biz and all. But then the cashier asked if I wanted to add a $7 "artisan screen print" that was literally one word stamped in the corner. I said sure, then she said the print shop charges $6 more if I want it centered, and another $5 if I want it in a color besides black. So my $18 bag turned into $36 for one word on a bag I could have made at a craft table. The kicker is the words themselves came from a list on a laminated sheet, like a build your own quote menu. It felt less like buying a real craft and more like paying a cover charge for the vibe. Has anyone else gotten hit with a surprise add on fee at a local market like this?
