Remember when you could just find a good fish supplier by asking around?

I needed a specific type of line-caught snapper for a new dish and spent three weeks calling every contact I had, only to find out my old guy retired and moved to Florida. It felt like starting from zero in a city I've worked in for a decade. How do you all find reliable new purveyors now?

Check local restaurant supply groups online, and troychen is right about the old way being a hassle too.

Was it ever really that easy though? In my experience, even the old "asking around" method took a lot of legwork and dead ends. I've actually had better luck lately just searching industry groups online.
