DAE think small claims court in Cook County is a waste of time for anything under $500?
Everyone says just file in small claims and you'll get your money. I did it 8 months ago over a $420 security deposit my old landlord on Lawrence Ave kept. Between the filing fee, the service fee, and taking two days off work for the hearings, I spent more than I got back, and he still hasn't paid the judgment. Am I missing something, or is there a better way to go after small amounts without losing money on the process?
