Ngl the Cook County eviction filing rule cost me 5 months and a grand before I got help
Filed on my own in March thinking a 5 day notice was the whole thing, ended up with a court date pushed to August and $1,100 gone to a lawyer fixing my paperwork. Has anyone else here dealt with the filing deadlines at the Daley Center, and is there a legal aid spot that answers faster than 3 weeks?

Did you file the appearance before the return date or after? Because I made the same mistake in 2022 and the clerk told me the 5 day notice is just the start, the real clock is the filing deadlines after you show up. I ended up paying a guy $900 to unfumble it and I still waited almost two months for a court date, so yeah, you are not alone in this mess.
