Spent $400 on a lawyer for a parking ticket and it was totally worth it
I got a ticket in the Loop last year for parking in a loading zone, but the sign was totally faded and you couldn't read it. I was gonna just pay the $150 fine, but my friend told me to fight it. I hired a local lawyer who deals with this stuff for a flat $400. He got the ticket dismissed because he had photos of the bad sign and knew the right city code to cite. I was out the $400, but it saved me from getting the violation on my record, which would have raised my insurance. Has anyone else had a good experience fighting a ticket with a lawyer here, or is it usually not worth the cost?

I mean, you still saved money long-term.

Yeah, but my bank account sure didn't feel saved at the time, @shane_bell.

Oh totally, and @shane_bell is right about the long-term save. That clean record is way more important than the fine.
