Showerthought: a comment here made me stop putting my face on my thumbnails
Posted a video 3 months ago with one of those shocked face close ups, and a guy replied "I clicked to see what you were so surprised about and it was a bent nail gun. You lied to me." He was right, so I cut the face out of my next 4 videos and just showed the finished job in the first frame. My clicks dropped about 20% on the first one, but the comments stopped calling me a fake and people actually watched to the end. Now I try to make the thumbnail show the real payoff, like a before and after on the same board. Has anyone else here tested face thumbnails against just showing the actual result, and which one held up over a couple months?
