That "insider leak" thumbnail was recycled from 2021 footage

Saw a gaming news thumbnail claiming an unannounced sequel got leaked. Clicked in and the "new" screenshot was literally from a 2021 beta build. Someone probably just flipped the colors and added a red circle. The video itself had zero new info, just 10 minutes of speculation. Is recycling old footage for clicks actually legal on YouTube or just scummy?

Yeah that 2021 beta build thing is old news, people have been doing this for YEARS now. Showing an old screenshot and slapping "LEAKED" on it is basically free clicks because nobody checks the source anymore. Is it legal? Pretty much yeah, unless they're using copywritten footage without permission. But legal and scummy are two different things and these channels know exactly what they're doing. 10 minutes of "what if" over a recolored screenshot is just lazy content farming.
