The "5 Minute Craft" video that took me 40 minutes

I follow this DIY page that posts those satisfying life hack videos. Last month I tried their sponge hack where you cut it into triangles to clean under a desk edge. Took me 40 minutes to get the shape right and it still fell apart in my hand after two uses. The video had 8 million views and the comments were all praising it, so I figured I was doing something dumb. Then I noticed the angle they filmed at never showed the sponge actually touching the surface. It was all clever editing, no real cleaning shown. Anyone else catch these channels faking the demo just to sell the illusion of effortlessness?

Funny you mention the editing trick because I noticed the same thing with those "perfectly folded fitted sheet" videos. They cut three times and suddenly the sheet is flat with hospital corners, but they never show the actual tucking motion in real time. It hit me that most of these channels are selling the fantasy of a clean, easy life, not teaching actual techniques. The real pattern is that effort has become this shameful thing in DIY content, like if it takes you more than five minutes, you're doing it wrong, when in reality everything worth doing takes practice and mess.
