Am I the only one who thinks skipping beef one day a week is a cop out?
Last month I had to pick between two plans for cutting my food footprint: one meatless day per week or going fully plant based on weekdays. I went with the weekday plan, and after 6 weeks my grocery bill dropped $40 a month at my Kroger in Columbus. The one day a week thing just lets people feel good while their other 6 days stay the same. Does anyone else think the small swap approach is mostly a way to avoid the real change?
Honestly man, does it have to be that serious? Some people cutting beef one day a week is still way better than nothing, and shaming them for not going full plant based just makes people dig in and do less. Not everyone can flip their whole diet overnight, and for a lot of folks the one day thing is a stepping stone to bigger changes later. You saved 40 bucks doing weekdays, cool, but that doesn't mean the guy doing meatless Monday is just faking it or avoiding "the real change." Sounds more like you found what works for you and now you're judging everyone else's version of it. Let people start where they can start, that's how habits actually stick.
