I finally got why people freak out about gas stoves after my kitchen CO detector went off
Last month my carbon monoxide detector started chirping at 2am. Called the fire dept and they said my gas range was putting out 45 ppm even with the window cracked. I always rolled my eyes at the electric stove crowd but after that night I called a guy to cap the gas line and got an induction cooktop. Still getting used to it but at least I'm not wondering if I'm slowly poisoning my kids. Anyone else had a close call that made you switch?

Heard from a HVAC guy that even new gas stoves can leak enough CO to be dangerous if the flame isn't burning clean. Kinda makes you wonder why they're still sold.

Watched my neighbor's gas stove turn the bottom of his pans green over like a month. He kept saying it was fine but his kid was getting headaches all the time. Turns out the burner was dumping CO like crazy because the air mixture was off (something to do with the gas pressure in our area I guess). Took three different repair guys to finally figure it out. Now I just cook outside on a propane camp stove when the weather's nice.

My gas range did the same thing before I finally switched to induction, never going back.
