My neighbor's $40 compost bin made me rethink my whole kitchen routine
My neighbor Dana stopped me in the driveway on Sunday and showed me her compost bin, a $40 plastic thing from the hardware store in Dayton, and she said her trash bag count went from 4 a week to 1. I always figured composting was for people with big yards or fancy setups, but she just keeps a coffee can under her sink and dumps it in twice a day. That made me look at my own trash and I counted 9 food scraps in one dinner, all of it going to the curb. Has anyone here started small like this, and did the smell actually stay away when you kept a bin in the kitchen?
