My old compost bin went from stinking mess to soil factory in 60 days
I switched from just tossing kitchen scraps in a pile to actually layering browns and greens and turning it weekly, and the difference is wild. The pile stopped smelling like rotten garbage and now breaks down food in about half the time, has anyone else seen that big a jump just from a simple method change?

That "stinking mess to soil factory" line really hit home for me. I spent years with a soggy, smelly pile that I honestly dreaded going near, and I thought that was just how composting worked. When I finally started paying attention to the brown to green ratio and gave it a good turn once a week, it was like night and day. The smell basically disappeared within a couple weeks, and I could actually see the food breaking down instead of just sitting there rotting. I'm glad you found the same thing, it makes the whole habit so much more satisfying when it actually works.
