Serious question, my apartment building's trash room got me into composting and now I'm hooked
Our building in Portland started a food scrap bin in the trash room about 4 months ago and I figured it would just stink up the hallway. Turns out it got me to keep a little bucket under my sink and I've cut my kitchen trash to one small bag a week, down from 3. The part that surprised me is that the bin has stayed pretty clean because folks rinse their stuff first. I keep a lid on my bucket and dump it every 2 days, no smells so far. Now I'm looking at the balcony and wondering if a worm bin is worth the hassle for the stuff the building bin won't take. Did anyone here go from shared building compost to their own setup, and was it a pain to keep up with?
