Dropped $1,200 on a tool presetter for my Haas and it just sits there

Everyone on the forums swears you need one, but on short runs I just touch off with a piece of paper like always and I'm within a thou. Anyone here get real use out of theirs on parts under 50 pieces, or did I just buy a $1,200 paperweight?
